About The AGAPE Movement
If you are concerned about America’s direction, you are in the right place. AGAPE is an organization formed by a core group of 20 people in Wichita Falls, Texas. It began with one Wichita Falls couple who became concerned about the growing federal government, runaway spending and the moral decline in our nation. As they talked to their family, friends, pastor and customers, they found that many had the same concerns.
The founders of AGAPE are Christians, but participation in AGAPE is not limited to Christians. The only requirement for participation is to be an American. AGAPE is based on Christian principles, but is not associated with or limited to any specific religion, race, creed or political party. Thomas Jefferson said, “We are not a country ruled by the majority. We are a country ruled by the majority of those who participate.”
AGAPE is a Greek word translated in the New Testament as “Love”. Not love as we generally understand it, as love for a spouse or for a family member, but the unconditional, self sacrificing love, demonstrated to us by God. We use this term AGAPE because we have a deep and real love for America, and because God had a profound influence on the founders of America. Our founders wrote the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution to be the blueprints for our great country. The principles set forth in these documents, limited government, individual freedom and personal responsibility, guided America to become the greatest country in the world. Hundreds of thousands have spilled their blood to preserve these rights. Today some government officials want to impose on you and your family what they believe are more enlightened laws and philosophies of other countries! What will be the result?
Cicero, the great orator, lawyer and politician of Rome, had this to say to his colleagues in 55 B.C.:
“The budget should be balanced, the treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. The people should be forced to work and not depend on government for subsistence.”
Elected officials work for the people. It is inconceivable that 300 million citizens cannot replace irresponsible legislators. This is what AGAPE is about – holding elected officials accountable to their employer! If you are an American, all politicians and government employees work for you! Do you have the courage to join us in holding our government accountable? Let’s restore America to Americans one politician at a time.
